Will masks or social distancing be required?
Some masking will be required for the first 24 hours.
Some masking will be required for the first 24 hours.
- While indoors and in outdoor gatherings, well-fitting high-filtration masks are now only required for the first 24 hours. If all campers and program staff test negative on the second day (24 hours after the start of camp), the masking requirement will be lifted and masks will become optional.
- Spaces include: Dining Hall (when not actively eating), dance pavilions, kitchen, Program Provider Center, Bookstore, Camphouse, Pinecones and Hunsdon House common areas. Campers should also mask when tightly packed even if they are technically outside, like in the outdoor dining tent or Camphouse porch.
- Campers may be asked by PCI to wear high-filtration masks whenever engaging in any camper jobs in the kitchen or dining hall even after the masking requirement has been lifted, at PCI’s discretion.
- In the week prior to arriving at Pinewoods, we kindly ask incoming campers and Program Provider staff to wear high-filtration masks in indoor public areas and in gatherings with any people who aren’t in their households. Program Providers must relay this request to campers and PP staff at least two weeks before the start of camp.
What happens if there is a positive Covid-19 case at Camp?
- Symptomatic individuals will be asked to quarantine in their cabin and self test with a rapid antigen test. If the antigen test is negative, the individual may be asked to take a NAAT test or go off site for a 3rd party rapid PCR test.
- If the rapid PCR test is negative the person may return to camp and regular camp activities but, as long as they remain symptomatic, should wear a high-filtration mask (meaning N95, KN95, KF94, or equivalent) when interacting with others inside and outside when not able to maintain 6 feet physical distance. They should eat outside at least 6’ away from others.
- Individuals with a positive result will be asked to:
- Return home if they have transportation and are able to safely drive
- If the individual is unable to leave, quarantine (in accordance with CDC guidelines) in Cottey House (or other suitable location)
- Should campers and/or staff test positive for Covid-19, the PCI Executive Committee will confer with public health professionals and meet with the Program Provider to determine if the current session should be suspended.
- Individuals who test positive at arrival, along with any travel companions who have not worn a high-filtration (N95, KN95, KF94, or equivalent) mask in the same car with an individual who tests positive, will not be permitted into camp.
Will housing be limited in any way?
We are currently planning for no restrictions on housing capacity or rooming configuration. If you are applying to attend by yourself, the housing coordinator will do their best to notify you of your roommate assignment and their contact information in advance of the weekend, in case you want to be in touch.

Will there be social dancing?
All types of social dancing will be allowed. Pinewoods Camp, CDS-Boston Centre, or the J4 organizers could decide to modify or limit programming, but at the moment we are hoping not to do so.
